Anyway, for this year I’ve summarized my resolutions in 3 themas:

1. OPEN
2. SOCIAL
3. PASSION

First I was gonna details these bullets but now I think they are really clear and suffices to themselves.
So feel free to ask for details, if you’re unsure about what I mean. In the meantime, let’s be an open social passionate electron in the Web Gen !

I believe a blog is a two-way communication tool, so I would like to know your opinion about the content, shape, subjects, … I talk about.

What are you interested in? Which post do you skip reading? Are there specific topics you want to discuss here ?

My third 2009 resolution can be summarized as a “simple” word: FOCUS ! Well not so simple after all… I must admit I have a tendency to follow to many ideas at the same time. This was true in 2008, even if I manage to keep my number of active ongoing projects below 3 (of course these are extra-work projects). Anyway, looking back the last year, I (or we) did not ship or fully release a public version of these projects. Finally, one may wonder what’s the point of having projects?

Don’t get me wrong! I’m still passionate about what I undertake. But in the end, I think it would be better if I choose one path instead of following multiple tracks going in different directions. On the other hand, I’m quite convinced that sometimes you may find synergies around different ideas. But let’s face it, it requires more energy and efforts, and it definitely does not take away the risk of dispersion.

Eventually, to be entirely truthful, this third resolution will probably be the first I will not follow… Anyway, that’s worth a try, moreover since I made it public! Speaking of which, I’m really interested in your insights about this “focus dilemma”!

Sébastien recently sent me this article from Loïc Le Meur which summarize quite enough the spirit of “Let’s do something, we’ll see later if we can make money out of it”. Like me, you may have some ideas stored in a “to do some day box” and guess what… most of the time these ideas are still there and never get a chance to live. The worst is when you’ve got such a brilliant idea (or at least a good one) and you do nothing of it, then you discover some nerd kiddy has just launch your idea and of course it’s working great!  Need an example..hum let’s take that “search engine thingy called google” … no I’m kidding. But my point is: you can get the best idea of the world ever and still sit on standby waiting for ???

So back to the 16 year-old kid who stole your brilliant idea: what is the main difference between you and him/her? He/She just did something out of the original idea. And yeah sometimes it means you can fail, but it can also give you so much positive feedback for your next brilliant idea!

Let’s just stick to this simple motto: Talk Less, Do More !   and we’ll see what can be achieved this way.

This is my 2009 resolution #1: get back to blogging. For the moment I just upgraded this wordpress, added a couple of plugins and still working on a better looking theme.

But why Yet Another Blog? I think I should have settled my blog objectives first a long while ago. So let’s try to do it now (at least):

1. Share ideas and knowledge: I usually listed here some (useful) resources and I will probably continue to do so. On the other hand I would like to add value to these simple lists. So I’ll  make some more in-depth articles or articles about personal ideas in order to discuss openly.
2. Interact and discuss with other people: I don’t want this to be  a one-way discussion, but a place to share and make ideas evolve.
3. Advertise myself: let’s face it “There is no such thing as free lunch”. Most of the influent blogs are not pure altruism. A blog is a personal space ideal to advertise yourself and show your contribution to the web.

That’s already a start. I should iterate over it and refine it in some times but that’s the first values I came along with. So let’s start 2009 right now   Read You Soon…

I finally deployed wordpress (following some geek advice). Then I imported my previous blogger account here (after patching the url in the blogger.php import code) and now I’m ready to continue sharing my links… So where is the “new fresh start” ? First of all, a wonderful wp theme fully imported with no customization (I know I should improve the style as soon as I get some time). Actually, the new start is my plan to fill this blog with something else than developer resources links. You can already see than I added Categories, and I hope I’ll soon add some “unusual” content.
Last but not least: even if writing a blog in English is hype, cool and web 2.0 compliant (well maybe not web 2.0), I have to confess that sometimes writing ideas in your mother language is easier to ensure a good understanding. So I’ve come to the point that I will write some post in English and some in French.
